They moved to Casper in 1960, and when her five children were all in school, she worked as a part time secretary for the school district, and later on, full time for the Wyoming Multiple Listing Service and the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra. Upon her husband's graduation, they moved to Gillette where she worked part-time as a secretary for the Presbyterian Church. She dropped out of the university and worked as a secretary for General Credit and the Christensen Insurance Company. They dated and were married June 28, 1953, and remained married for 59 years. In 1951, she met a friend of her brother's who was home on leave from the Marine Corps. Dolly not only typed the book, she also did the art and illustrations.
